Are You Still Using Resilient Bars?

Resilient bars, such as Gypframe RB1, have been the mainstay of ceiling and wall soundproofing for decades. But whilst they are still widely used, they are no longer the best solution - either in terms of performance or ease of use. There is an alternative which outperforms resilient bars by 4-6dB on both airborne and impact noise. Enter the GenieClip.

We have, and always will, supply resilient bar products to our customers (see our handy resilient bar calculator). Often this is because the product is specified in the plans, or simply, it is the product our customers are comfortable installing. However, over the last couple of years more and more are switching to GenieClip. 

Firstly, GenieClips offer significantly better performance than resilient bars, as you can see in the diagram below:

4-6dB improvement on both airborne and impact noise, over and above what can be achieved by resilient bars is huge. Remember, the decibel scale is logarithmic! It can often be the different between still being able to hear a conversation on the other side of a wall or not. The key to this improvement is the patented Canadian design, which encompasses a moulded rubber collar to help isolate the sound:
