Deliveries
Due to the bulky nature of our products, sometime our delivery charges can seem complicated - hopefully this page will provide some clarity.
Firstly, as a principle, we do not aim to profit from delivery charges - we are soundproofing specialists, not a transportation company! As such, we will only ever pass on our best estimate of what it will cost us to get your goods to you. By extension, customers are of course welcome to discuss with us arranging their own transport to collect their goods from our warehouse in Darwin, Lancashire.
Equally, we don't want to "hide" the cost of shipping in the products you buy - the shipping cost is the true cost to get the goods to you.
At checkout, you have the opportunity to state a preferred delivery date. We will always try our utmost to accommodate your preference, but very occasionally, factors outside of our control means this will not be possible. Please do not book tradesmen or services that rely on this delivery date being met, just in case of an issue.
Deliveries will usually take place between 8am and 6pm, although very occasionally might occur outside of this in the case of traffic. Where we can provide you with a more precise time on the day we will. If you would like a morning delivery, then we can potentially arrange this for an additional charge.
Our deliveries are made by trucks of up to 28t in size - roughly that of a double decker bus. As such, if there are any access restrictions to your property for a vehicle of this potential size, then please talk to our team about other arrangements.
All deliveries are made by driver-only vehicles, and they are only insured to deliver the goods "curb-side" to the property address, and not to help off-load the product.
Depending on the make up of your order, the goods will come from one or more of the following sources:
- The vast majority of goods are delivered via the pallet network from our warehouse in Darwin, Lancashire ("Pallet Delivery");
- For some goods like the GenieClip range, it may be cheaper and more convenient for us to ship the goods with DPD if you are not otherwise receiving a pallet ("Courier Delivery");
- Any core building products will be delivered from one of our builders merchant partners, from their nearest branch to you ("Merchant Delivery");
- A small number of specialist products will be delivered direct from the manufacturer by courier or truck ("Specialist Delivery").
Pallet Delivery
We charge per pallet used to ship your order. The charge will be £80 plus VAT for each pallet. Please note we are unable to quote via the website for deliveries to the Highlands and islands of Scotland and England, but please give us a ring and we can get a cost for you.
A pallet can hold a maximum of 750kg of material, but if more often restricted by the size of the items that make up the order. Occasionally our warehouse is able to pack your order on fewer pallets than we anticipated - in which case we will manually refund you for that charge.
Courier Delivery
Courier costs are usually £15 for a regular sized item (like a box of clips), and £32 for an oversized item such as a furring channel. You may be subject to multiple charges depending on the volume of goods ordered, and the postcode you are shipping to.
Merchant Delivery
Our various building merchant partners will deliver to you products like acoustic plasterboard and drywall supplies. The cost for the delivery is £50 if you are buying less than £300 of building supplies, £25 if you are buying less than £1,000 but more than £300, and is free above £1,000 worth of building products.
Building supplies are subject to a minimum purchase value of £150 - below this, we shall send you information on how to source these parts yourself.
Specialist Delivery
The following products are shipped direct from the manufacturer, and so carriage charges are based on the size and weight of the product, along with your exact location:
- Hush Acoustics range: double pallet roughly £150 per pallet
- Door acoustics: roughly £20 per set of 1-5 items
- Acoustic lighting hoods: roughly £7.50 per set of 1-2 items
- StepTile floor panels: roughly £70 per order
As always, we aim to be as upfront as possible about our carriage charges, and to minimise them as best as possible. The costs above are for guidance only, and your actual shipping costs will be confirmed once your post code is entered, but before you need to confirm and pay your order.
