Product Summary
Acoustic mineral wool is designed to work specifically at reducing the passage of airborne sound; it will also help reduce reverberant sound. It is important not to mistake it for light weight loft insulation, which weighs only around 12kg/m3.Product Application
Typically, acoustic mineral wool is used to absorb sound passing through a void. The mineral wool acts to absorb sound and reduce reverberation within the void. Please note that this is not a loft insulation type wool, but a high density wool specifically designed to combat noise. Rolled products are simply not dense enough to be effective against sound transmission.Instructions for use
The density of Acoustic Mineral Wool (starting at 60kg/m3) is
specifically designed to be more efficient than many alternative methods
of sound control and is the optimum solution when looking for an
effective acoustic insulation to give added soundproofing control when
installed between the joists of floors and into stud partitions.
60kg AMW typically provides a reduction in airborne noise levels of up to 4-5dB when fitted in between floor/ceiling joists.
60kg AMW typically provides a reduction in reverberant noise levels of up to 10dB when fitted in ceIling constructions.
We
often recommend acoustic mineral wool under the floors when carrying
out soundproofing work next to a party wall. This will help in cutting
out sound which will travel through the party wall under the floor
boards. Ideally the void should be packed and the mineral wool applied
about 0.6-1m deep hard against the party wall. Filling the void. See

It is non-flammable and
chemically inert and is not adversely affected by any substance it may
come into contact with. Random arrangement of fibres ensures no water
penetration in any direction. It is rot proof, non-hygroscopic, does not
sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, moulds or
bacteria.
