Floor Solution 3
Effective Budget Solution
If you wish to buy this solution online we can calculate the materials you need.
For those looking for a simpler solution aimed at improving airborne acoustic privacy. This is more economic in terms of labour effort and materials cost. We would recommend placing the 100mm acoustic mineral wool under the floors such that no gaps remain. To do this 2 of every five floorboards typically need to be lifted. The mineral wool should be friction fitted such that no gaps or holes where sound can leak remain. Once the wool is in place and the boards are screwed down the gaps between the boards should be sealed with an acoustic sealant.

Floor acoustic treatments compared
What do these terms all mean? We compare the following key issues.
1) Floor height gain - How much floor height will rise as a result of soundproofing
2) Labour intensity - How long will the job take? In general lifting all the floor boards will add dramatically to the time required to complete the soundproofing
3) Typical Airborne uplift - This gives you an idea about how much airborne sound your stopping coming up from below ( or from above) TV / Talking that kind of thing. The bigger the number displayed the better the performance.
4) Typical Impact Uplift - This gives you an idea about how much impact ( footfall) sound your stopping going downstairs. The bigger the number displayed the better the performance.
