However as a rough guide: Where you have a poorly constructed single 12.5mm plasterboard ceiling beneath a loose floor boarded floor your acoustic privacy might only between 35db and you can hear conversational tones and TV easily, the application of any of these solutions will take the ceiling to in excess of 55db acoustic privacy which is a good level of privacy.
